- Indian/Native American/ Navajo Halloween Costume HELP?
I am trying to be a indian/navajo/native american this year for halloween but i am having a lot of trouble. I dont want an actual costume more clothing that looks like indian/navajo/native american. I also want to look cute and maybe something tight? Thanks!

A I do not think you understand how rude and racist it is that you are asking for advice on how to "look" like my race and my tribe. We are not your little fairy costumes that would be entertaining to dress up as. This is like asking, "How do I dress like a black slave?" "How do I create a costume similar to the clothes of a Jew in the Holocaust?" Native American is a race, and Navajo is an ethnicity. We are people, not mythical creatures. Although, if you persist to find out what we wear, I'll give you my wardrobe choice for today: *A BAGGY t-shirt of the "T'áá hwó ají t'éego" (Just Move It) races across the Navajo Nation. *Favourite Worn out comfy jeans *Sneakers *Silver hoops And for hair, a high ponytail. Not the tight, skimpy outfit you expected? *shrugs* Sorry. This is usually what I wear everyday (different shirt though). Comfort and style without feeling the need to tug on too-tight shirts or pants. If you also had the fantasy of Natives wearing beaded headbands on our foreheads and dreamcatchers around our necks, then I'm going to have to give you a wake-up call. We wear modern clothes and dress in our traditional regalia during ceremonies, which is not worn by those who were not raised in a tribal community. Please ponder the fact that we are a people, a race, and by wearing us as a costume you are stealing our cultural identity, the most important value we have. It's morally wrong and an act of open discrimination. For a Halloween costume, I would wear something less prejudiced, like an angel costume or a pirate outfit.

- I need ideas on what kind of homemade costumes I can do for my little one?
My son is 18 months. He hates anything that goes on his head. Face paint is ok, but hats, sunglasses are a different story. I see cute little costumes in the stores but simply cannot bring myself on spending $20 on something he probably won't wear again. I was thinking about playing in to our culture, and dressing him up like a little warrior but my husband has a different view on this, he thinks its too cliche and our people (Navajos) hardly even wore face paint.
